Golf Trip: Tom Segura Crashes a Friends' Getaway

Golf Trip strands three friends on their annual golf getaway with Tom Segura's boundary-less Chuck Wheeler, with Andrew Santino and John Stamos. Date to come.

A relaxing weekend on the golf course becomes anything but, as a stranger crashes the trip in Golf Trip. The movie, set to be released this year, is headed by comedian Tom Segura.

The movie takes a look at what happens when a group of longtime friends, on one of their annual getaways, comes across a stranger with little regard for personal boundaries.

The production is a collaboration between Live Nation Studios, Hartbeat and All Things Comedy. Other names associated with the project are Andrew Santino, Timothy Simons, Sinqua Walls, Heather Graham and John Stamos.

Nicholas Thomas is at the helm as director. The screenplay is by Thomas and Corey Pendergast.

Filming started in September of 2021. However, an official release date has not been set.

What Is Golf Trip About?

The movie is about four friends who have upheld an annual golf trip for the last 20 years.

With their busy schedules and hectic lives, the golf trip has allowed them to escape and reconnect, every single year.

This time, however, is not going to plan.

With one member of the group no-showing at the last minute, the other three, expecting a usual trip without a care in the world, arrive at a golf resort.

There, they meet Chuck Wheeler, an over-eager and over-zealous lone golfer with no social boundaries.

The rudeness and the unpredictability of Chuck quickly breaks the norms and routines of the group. This creates an awkward and often uncomfortable environment, misunderstandings and outright conflicts among the group.

He portrays Chuck Wheeler, the unanticipated fourth player who contributes to the film's comedy with his eccentric behavior.

Segura is a well known figure in the comedy industry with a successful stand-up career, and comedy specials and podcasts.

With his background in stand-up, Segura is able to bring to the table the necessary skills to portray a character who is awkwardly comfortable with strangers.

Chuck is described to be a very friendly guy who is shameless, has no filter and lacks awareness of personal space with others.

This results in conflicts with the friends who want to take a peaceful vacation.

Instead of having a typical antagonist in the movie, the film has a friendly guy who wants to meet and talk to everyone who ultimately annoys the group.

The humor is anticipated to be based on the group's reactions and Chuck's constant disruption.

The filmmakers have not made any authorized digital distributions.

Andrew Santino plays Jason, one of the longtime friends whose vacation is thrown off by the arrival of Chuck.

Timothy Simons plays Don, and Sinqua Walls plays Mike.

The three are the other participants in the annual golf trip.

The movie also features Heather Graham as Margo and John Stamos as Ted.

Jolene has been confirmed to play Stacy.

The group brings experience in film, TV and comedy to the production.

Santino has appeared in film and TV, most recently on the HBO series 'Dave.'

Simons was most recognizable for his role on HBO's 'Veep.'

Graham and Stamos bring additional experience from their work in film and television to the project.

While the main characters have been cast, some of the relationships among the supporting characters and the main group have not been defined by the production.

Nicholas Thomas Directs the Comedy

Nicholas Thomas will direct Golf Trip from a script he wrote with Corey Pendergast.

Thomas is also an executive producer on the project.

The film is a collaboration among Live Nation Studios, Hartbeat, and All Things Comedy.

Kevin Hart is also a producer through Hartbeat, with Luke Kelly-Clyne and other production partners.

Tom Segura and Andrew Santino are also executive producers.

According to the official press release, principal photography on the film began on September 14, 2026.

The film is an irreverent ensemble comedy about the destination golf and resort culture.

Its production companies have highlighted a focus on accomplished comedians and seasoned performers for the lead roles.

Golf Trip examines longtime friendships.

For two decades the group has made an annual tradition of the golf trip.

Golf provides a reprieve from the ordinary, and allows the friends to connect and reminisce about their younger days.

The sudden appearance of Chuck disrupts their routine and challenges their expectations.

The main conflict offers opportunity for comedy with aging, changing priorities, and holding onto old traditions.

The filmmakers haven't revealed any character development beyond the official synopsis.

As of October 2026, Golf Trip is still without a confirmed release date.

Principal photography started in September with the main cast and film crew finalized.

Without an identified theatrical distributor or streaming platform, the marketing and trailer campaign for Golf Trip hasn't started.

Further information may explain the plot, and provide insight into the characters.

With the main cast made up of established comic performers, and Segura playing the lead with a larger-than-life persona, there is room for character-based comedy.

Golf Trip takes a simple, everyday social tradition, and builds a crazy, complicated story around it.

It remains to be seen whether Wheeler becomes Segura's unlikely partner in crime, or simply a crazy, unstoppable force of nature.
